A Unified Platform to Sustain Medium and Small Media

To support medium and smaller media organisations grappling with financial pressures in a rapidly changing digital era, the Karnataka Media Council has launched an innovative news agency-style platform.
With the rise of the internet and artificial intelligence reshaping media consumption, many mid-sized newspapers, TV channels, and digital outlets face closure and job losses. Larger organisations have adapted, but smaller entities struggle to keep pace.
The council’s platform allows multiple media partners to share centrally prepared news reports, significantly reducing costs for hiring reporters while maintaining the quality of journalism.
“Our goal is to create a sustainable environment for medium-sized media houses, so journalists continue meaningful, impactful work,” said a senior council member.
Additionally, this initiative serves as a resource hub connecting academic institutions with real-world media practice, strengthening the bridge between education and the profession.
